Kaivon Washington charged with third-degree rape of Madison Brooks

According to charging documents obtained by The Washington Post, 18-year-old Kaivon Washington and a 17-year-old have been charged with third-degree rape. Casen Carver, 18, and Everett Lee, 28, are charged with rape in the first to third degree, meaning they were present but did not participate in the crime. Police said Carver was heard laughing “viciously” at Brooks after she was allegedly sexually assaulted.

In a TikTok video, Washington admits that his “biggest fear” is “not going to heaven.” In other social media posts, he talks about God, saying in one of them: “God helps me in everything, that’s why I’m so good.” Washington remains in custody and was posted $150,000 bail.

Brooks, 19, was revealed to have allegedly worked at the bar where she and the suspects had been drinking prior to the sexual assault, according to the New York Post. Police said she was seen on surveillance video entering the bar around 10:00 p.m. m. on January 14, when she did not appear to be working. She met the juvenile suspect at the bar and left with him intoxicated between 1:00 am and 2:00 am on January 15, the day the alleged assault occurred.

The other three suspects then got into the car and allegedly raped Brooks. She was then dropped off near her and finally hit by a rideshare driver. According to the autopsy, Brooks had “injuries consistent with a prior anal sexual assault” as well as other injuries from the accident.
