On Monday, August 7, Fritsch was taken into custody by police in Oregon City, Oregon, charged with second-degree murder, abuse of a corpse, and manslaughter of Kara Taylor. The accused killer admitted to dismembering the victim and discarding her body parts, according to prosecutors, Law and Crime reported.

On July 25, Taylor left a home located in the 200 block of Jefferson Street at night. The 49-year-old woman from Washington state was staying with her friends in Oregon City. Two days later, Fritsch reported her missing. Police did not release any information about the relationship between the victim and the alleged killer, but stated that they lived in the house on Jefferson Street. In a statement from Taylor’s family issued by the Oregon City Police Department, the victim was described as a “phenomenal woman” who is survived by a 22-year-old daughter with special needs.
