A Florida man fatally shot his 14-year-old sister in the face in a tragedy he initially passed off as a self-inflicted wound, authorities allege. Keon Martavious Thornhill 19, was booked into Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center Thursday for second-degree murder with a weapon, records show. Officers did not identify the victim, but the family did identify her as Brianna, according to WSVN.
Opa-Locka, Florida police responded to a disturbance involving a man knocking on doors, according to the arrest affidavit. It was on Thursday at approximately 12:08 am. m. ET. Officers say they arrived to find the man outside the home. He said that his sister was bleeding inside, according to what they said. Police officers found the girl inside with an apparent gunshot wound to her face.

“Defendant spontaneously stated that he was involved in a verbal dispute with the victim, he went to his second-floor bedroom and recovered a firearm,” police said. “The defendant then came downstairs with the firearm, stating that he had cleaned it and handed it over to the victim. The defendant further claimed that the victim shot himself in the face.”
The Miami-Dade Fire Department pronounced her dead at 12:27 a.m. m. ET. Thornhill eventually admitted to shooting his sister, officers said. “While the defendant was in custody, he told officers on the scene several times: ‘I shot him. It was a mistake. Take me inside,’” the officers said.
The officers took him to the Miami-Dade Police Department headquarters. There, he allegedly gave several different versions of how the shooting occurred. “My daughter was a wonderful person,” the mother of both teens told CBS4. “She was very respectful, she was a sweet girl, my girl, and now she is gone.
