According to police, a Queens teacher was arrested and charged Tuesday with rape and molestation of a 14-year-old student. Melissa Rockensies, 33, who has been teaching for more than a decade, was arrested at the 112th Precinct Police Station in Forest Hills after police learned of the allegation that she had been having sex with the minor.
Rockensies, who earns about $85,000 a year as a teacher, could not be reached for comment. Her husband declined to comment when contacted by the Daily News. The city’s Department of Education said she was transferred from the school and that she could be fired from it if she is found guilty.

“This alleged behavior is extremely concerning and totally unacceptable,” DOE spokeswoman Jenna Lyle said. “This employee has been reassigned away from school and students pending the outcome of the arrest and if he is found guilty, we will seek his termination. Nothing is more important than the safety and well-being of our students.” Rockensies was arraigned Tuesday night on two counts of rape, committing a criminal sexual act and acting in a manner injurious to a child.
