Monica De Leon Barba is a 40-year-old Californian who moved to Mexico for a job opportunity in photography. Barba was kidnapped in 2022 while she was walking her dog in Tepatitlán, Mexico. According to the FBI, Barba was last seen getting into a vehicle on November 29, 2022, as she was driving to her house from work in Tepatitlán, Jalisco, not far from Guadalajara. The FBI immediately launched an investigation to investigate her abduction and offered a $40,000 reward for information leading to Barba’s whereabouts.

The FBI then released some footage of Barba linked to the kidnapping, where she can be seen walking her dog in the first video while three of the vehicles used in her kidnapping: a gray Dodge Charger, a silver Volkswagen Jetta, and a white Chevrolet Suburban: pass slowly. The second video shows her kidnapping in action, as Barba can be seen with her suspects approaching her as they get out of her car. After pushing her into the Jetta, the suspects got into the cars and drove away, as seen in the video.

Although the cause of the abduction was unclear, Barba’s release was a constant concern during her captivity, the FBI said. Robert Tripp, the FBI Special Agent in Charge of the San Francisco office, said in a statement: “Over the past eight months, FBI personnel in California and Mexico have worked tirelessly with the family and their partners here and in Mexico. “Our relief and joy at Monica’s safe return is profound. The FBI investigation is far from over, but now we can work on this case knowing that an innocent victim was reunited with her family.”

However, according to Barba’s brother, the FBI claimed that requests were made during her kidnapping, but have yet to respond to any requests. The San Francisco FBI issued a statement on Saturday, July 15, saying, “No arrests have been made and the investigation into the identity of her captors is ongoing.”

The safe release of arba after a lengthy trial emphasizes cooperation between US and Mexican law enforcement. In an effort to find the culprits behind her kidnapping, an investigation is underway. The emphasis now is on helping Barba recover from her ordeal and reunite with her family.Read More…….
