Nashali Alma a Florida woman is talking about the terrifying moments she fought off an attacker in the gym of her apartment complex, and it was all caught on camera. “As soon as she got close to me, I pushed him away,” Nashali Alma , 24, said in a video posted to Instagram by the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office. “I told him, ‘Bro, what the hell are you doing? Get away from me. Stop trying to touch me.'” He started chasing me down the bench and we ended up on the other side of the gym.”

Deputies were called to the Inwood Park apartment complex in Tampa to investigate the assault on January 22. “I was disgusted by the actions of the suspect, how he took advantage of this young woman,” Sheriff Chad Chronister said. “I’m grateful that she came forward, I know her story will be an inspiration to other women.” Alma details in the video that she was exercising alone before letting the suspect into the gym. She told investigators that she opened the door for him because she was someone she had previously seen at the gym.

Who attacked on Nashali Alma in gym?

As Alma continued to train her, her suspect, 25-year-old Xavier Thomas-Jones, approached her and attempted to grab her around her waist. She yelled at him, demanding that he get away from her, but he continued to chase her around the gym. Thomas-Jones then grabbed Alma and pinned her to the ground. She continued to fight him while trying to call 911. Finally, he released Alma and she ran out of the gym and into a nearby apartment.

Agents were able to track down Thomas-Jones and arrest him less than 24 hours later. He faces charges of sexual assault, unlawful imprisonment, and kidnapping. Court records obtained by FOX 13 Tampa show that Thomas-Jones lives in the apartment complex where the attack occurred. Thomas-Jones allegedly admitted to holding down and hitting Alma because he wanted to have sex with her.

My advice would be to never give up,” says Alma. “My parents always told me in life to never give up on anything and that’s something I always kept in mind when I was fighting with him.”Read More…..
