A newly engaged woman slipped and fell to her death off a cliff in Turkey, moments after her husband-to-be popped the question. Yesim Demir and his new fiance, Nizamettin Gursu, were about to mark the momentous occasion with a sunset picnic when the 39-year-old plummeted more than 100 feet from the cliff in Canakkale, a city in northwestern Turkey, on July 6.

Her excited boyfriend-to-be had just proposed and was returning to her car to retrieve the celebratory food and drinks when she heard a blood-curdling scream, Newsflash reported. Gursu rushed back to the picturesque cliffside spot at Polente Cape to find that her fiancée had fallen over the edge. The grieving man later told local media that the couple had chosen the venue to get engaged because they thought it would be romantic.

“We chose it to have a romantic memory after the proposal. We drank some alcohol. Everything happened at once. He lost his balance and fell,” Gursu said. Demir initially survived the massive 104-foot drop, but later succumbed to his injuries. Gursu immediately called for help, but after 45 minutes of resuscitation, doctors pronounced his future wife dead. Friends of the tragic woman told local media that the cliff where the accident occurred was a place where many people went to watch the sunset.
“This is a place where everyone comes and watches the sunset,” they said. “However, the roads are very bad and there is no caution on the edge of the cliff. A fence should be drawn here, precautions should be taken.”Read More……
