Thursday morning around 6:45 a.m. m., Burke County deputies responded to 403 Martin Luther King Blvd. in Keysville, GA for reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located the victim, Corey Mack, suffering from a gunshot wound to the groin. Corey told deputies that he and his stepfather, Rafael Vasquez had argued at his home on Old Waynesboro Rd.

The victim said during the argument that Vasquez pulled out a gun and fired at her. Corey was able to escape the house and run to a neighbor’s house for help. EMA transported him to Augusta University Medical Center for treatment.

A Keysville man was arrested after allegedly shooting his stepson in the groin area Thursday. A 55-year-old man has been charged with aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. He is currently being held at the Burke County Detention Center, according to jail records.

At approximately 6:45 a.m. m., Burke County deputies responded to the 400 block of Martin Luther King Boulevard in Keysville for a shooting. When officers arrived, they found the victim, a 39-year-old man who had a gunshot wound to the groin area, according to an incident report.

The victim told deputies that he and his stepfather argued at his home in the 200 block of Old Waynesboro Road and that his stepfather shot her, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office. The victim ran to a neighbor’s house for help and EMA transported him to Hospital Médico Universitario for treatment, according to the statement.
