TENNESSE – The Nashville Metropolitan Police Department released photos of two officers fatally shooting a 28-year-old white transgender woman who killed six people, including three children at a private Christian elementary school on Monday, March 25. Audrey Hale entered The Covenant School shortly before 10 a.m. m. in her Honda Fit and was killed by officers less than 15 minutes after six people were shot.

A representative for the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department revealed Monday night that Officers Rex Engelbart and Michael Collazo were part of the team that opened fire on Hale, killing him. Many people praised the officers for responding quickly to the killings at the Covenant schools, unlike the Uvalde police officers.

According to police, when officers heard gunshots coming from the second floor, they ran to The Covenant School, gained entry, and cleared the structure. Hale killed nine-year-olds Evelyn Dieckhaus, William Kinney, and the pastor’s daughter, Hallie Scruggs, before being shot down. Cynthia Peak, 61, a substitute teacher, Katherine Koonce, 60, and janitor Mike Hill, 61, were also killed. A team of officers, including Engelbart and Collazo, reached the second floor where they were met by Hale, who had been shooting through a window at approaching police vehicles.

Finally they shot the trans woman and killed him. “The first 911 call about gunshots in the building came at 10:13 a.m. Officers rushed the campus, entered, and began clearing the building. Gunshots were heard coming from the second level. I was on the second floor, in a common area, that a team of officers found Hale shooting (he had been shooting through a window at arriving police cars).
