Russell Albers, 41, was taken into custody Wednesday afternoon after he was seen in McKinleyville and left in a Toyota Tundra, the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.

The victims were the parents of a 4-year-old boy, who was rescued unharmed after deputies were summoned to the home by a 911 call during which the boy’s screams could be heard in the background, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Another woman was taken to the hospital for emergency surgery and Albers allegedly left a third woman at the hospital, where she underwent surgery for a gunshot wound, authorities said.

Albers then fled the hospital, authorities said.

Authorities have not released a motive for the shooting or described Albers’ relationship with the victims.
