Concerned neighbors filmed a disturbing incident involving a mother Samarria White and daughter in Georgia, and now the community is coming together to stand up for a child. While a nine-year-old girl was playing with her friends, her mother suddenly appeared, angry with her, and subjected her to shocking abuse.

In disturbing images posted to Facebook by neighbor Gwen-Harris Mackenzie of the mother and her daughter, the mother is seen clutching her daughter’s hair as she sits on the grass and screams. “Get up!” She is heard the mother yelling at the girl, as she picks her up and yells several swear words at her. In one clip, the limp body of the woman’s daughter is seen being dragged by her hair through her grass as her mother pulls her away from her. The girl continued to cry in agony and anguish.

Charges on Samarria White

According to Gwen-Harris, the images were originally captured by her niece. “I don’t know if any neighbors had witnessed this part, but some saw her chasing her,” she wrote in her Facebook post. While she was at work at the time of the incident, Gwen-Harris and several others alerted police to her mother’s actions.

According to the neighbor, this was not the first time that her mother’s abuse had been witnessed, however, it was the first time that she had been caught on video. “I don’t know her name or her name, her kids just play outside with mine and they’ve said this isn’t the worst thing she’s done they’ve ever seen, they just caught it on camera,” Gwen-Harris wrote. “Prayers for those babies.”

The woman was identified as 27-year-old Samarria White. According to another neighbor, a group of neighborhood children had been playing in White’s pool when the mother suddenly got angry and sent the children home, according to WGXA. The neighbor later said she saw White chasing her daughter down the driveway before dragging the girl by her hair.

Bibb County Sheriff’s Office deputies were able to identify White after viewing the video. “In the shocking video, which was also posted to social media, the woman is seen punching the boy in the face multiple times,” the Sheriff’s Office shared via Facebook. When they arrived at the door of her mother’s house, she allegedly denied abusing her daughter. Although after officers informed her that the incident was videotaped, she confessed and was taken into custody. She is currently being held on $20,000 bond and is being charged with first degree cruelty.

Authorities transported White’s daughter to a local hospital, where she was treated for “bruising and redness” on her chest. DCFS has been notified of the incident. It is unknown who is caring for White’s daughter and two other children at this time. “I don’t care what that kid did beforehand, there’s no excuse to drag him by the hair,” one person shared.

“Justice for this child,” commented one Facebook user. “Praying for the children, praying that mom gets the help she needs. Very sad situation,” another user wrote. Other users praised the woman’s neighbor for raising awareness about the abuse and potentially saving the life of her children. His actions are a reminder that if you see something, say something.
