HAWAII: Samuel Jones the boyfriend of Hawaiian soldier Spc Laau Jordan Laulusa, who was found dead in a burning car outside a high school in Honolulu, has been charged with murder for allegedly stabbing her in the neck and igniting the vehicle. Aulusa, a member of the Hawaii Army National Guard, was discovered dead around 6:40 a.m. m. Monday, March 13, inside the burned-out car that was parked in front of Mililani High School, according to a KITV report.

Witnesses told police they saw a man holding a knife as he opened and closed the doors of the car moments before it caught fire before fleeing. Passers-by followed him until the police arrived and took him into custody. Samuel Jones was identified as the suspect and is charged with second degree murder and first degree arson in the death of Laulusa. Bail for him was set at $1 million.

Laulusa joined the Hawaii Army National Guard in 2019 and was a supply specialist for the 227th Brigade Engineer Battalion, 29th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, according to the Army. The Hawaii Army National Guard has released a statement about Lalusa’s killer. Brigadier General Stephen Logan, the commanding officer, said in the statement: “Our aloha and prayers are with the ‘ohana (family of his) and those who knew this soldier personally and professionally.”

Lalulsa’s family is mourning the loss of his daughter.
