Five of the injured were “around 18 years old,” Cornett said, while an adult female in her “mid 30s or early 40s” was also injured. Each of the injuries were not life-threatening and are being treated at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC), according to city officials. After the shooting, several people were detained on weapons charges and questioned, police said.

WCSC reported Saturday that 18-year-old Alexander Martin-Goods was arrested and charged with illegal possession of a weapon, while a minor, whose name has not been released, was also arrested. Police could not confirm if the two people arrested were involved in the shooting.

Numerous firearms were also recovered on the beach, according to Cornett. He was unable to detail, however, whether they were involved in the shooting.
