One person has died after at least 20 people were shot outside a suburban Illinois shopping center overnight as hundreds gathered for a June 16 celebration. The shooting happened around 12:30 a.m. on Route 83 near Honeysuckle Lane in Willowbrook, Illinois, Battalion Chief Joe Ostrander of the Tri-State Fire Protection District told WLS. The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department said the shooting occurred in the area of Washington Avenue and 14th Street around 1:45 a.m. m., KMOV-TV reported. Witnesses told KMOV that the shooting took place inside a building. One of the teens was pronounced dead at the scene. The names of the victims and the conditions of those injured in the shooting were not immediately available.
