A man accused of murdering Tasmanian teenager Shyanne-Lee Tatnell appeared briefly in court and has yet to plead guilty to the charge. Shyanne-Lee’s remains were discovered near a trail in the northeastern state on July 26, more than 12 weeks after she was last seen alive.

Christopher Mark Jordan, 36, of the rural town of Scottsdale, was arrested the next day and charged with murdering the 14-year-old. He appeared via video link at Launceston Magistrates Court today. Jordan pleaded no guilty to a murder charge and was taken into custody with the matter adjourned until the end of November.

Shyanne-Lee, 14, was remembered at her funeral on Saturday for her as energetic and someone she loved to sing and dance. She was last seen on the night of April 30 near the North Esk River in the city of Launceston.

Extensive searches of the river turned up no trace of the teenager, before a further police operation on August 27 near Nabowla, northeast of Launceston, discovered her remains. The operation involved around 180 people and was the largest search in northern Tasmania.Read More…….
