Stephen Termini Wiki – Stephen Termini Biography

A father’s dream trip from New York to Ireland quickly turned into a nightmare when he was seriously injured after being beaten by a group of teenagers in Dublin, according to a report. Stephen Termini, 57, from Buffalo, worked odd jobs for a year to secure a trip to his family’s homeland, but was the victim of a brutal attack near Store Street Garda station on Wednesday night, reports RTE local. Police said the man was repeatedly punched and kicked by a group of youths just as he was leaving his apartment in the troubled neighborhood. Termini could “lose one of his eyes and be disabled for life” as a result of the attack, his family said.

Termini’s son, Mike Rizzuto, said he was heartbroken by the attack, as he recalled his father being delighted by his trip to Ireland. “Last time I spoke to him he was saving every penny, doing odd jobs to get to Ireland,” Rizzuto told RTE. “I was talking about playing music in Ireland. That’s where he wanted to be, so he really sucks what happened to him.”

He added that Termini, an artist and musician, is a proud Irish-American who also spoke about the importance of his heritage and that the trip also served as a way for the father to honor his family. My father’s mother’s ashes were scattered in Ireland in 2002 and he couldn’t get there at the time. His grandfather used to paint murals in Ireland,” Rizzuto said. “I was raised with Irish heritage, which is very important to my father.”

Termini’s sister, Michelle, echoed that visiting her family’s homeland was important to her brother after he lost her wife to illness last year. “He had always dreamed of visiting Ireland. He was trying to trace our family who immigrated to the US from Dublin,” she wrote on the family’s GoFundMe.

Termini remains in intensive care at Dublin’s Beaumont Hospital as his family tries to raise funds for a trip to visit him. Dublin police said one of the boys alleged to have been involved in the beating was arrested on Sunday and will appear in Children’s Court on Thursday. They did not release information about the minor or provide further comment about the other alleged suspects.

Justice Minister Helen McEntee condemned the attack and called for more police presence at Store Street station following criticism from a local business owner that the assault on Termini was not uncommon in the area. “There is no excuse for violence on our streets and those responsible will be brought to justice,” she tweeted McEntee.Read more…….
