A woman found with serious facial injuries died at hospital as police questioned a 20-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder. Officers rushed to an address in Madeley, Staffordshire, shortly before 10pm on Monday May 1 to find Suzanne Henry with serious injuries to her face.

The 54-year-old woman was rushed to hospital where doctors desperately fought to save her life, but she sadly died last night, Wednesday May 3rd. Now, the police are appealing to the public for any information they may have regarding the incident.

The force initially responded to reports of a man acting suspicious in the area before finding Suzanne, suffering from horrific injuries. Detective Inspector Adrian Webb, from our Main Investigations Department, said: “My thoughts and condolences go out to Suzanne’s family at this very traumatic time.

“I understand the state of shock, both in the family and in the community at large, that such a tragic event has occurred in the City of Madeley. “We are solely focused on securing justice for Suzanne’s family and making sure we do everything we can to support them through this incredibly difficult time.

I would like to thank all those who have already reached out for the information and for the patience that has been shown around the Newcastle Road curb. “There could still be people with valuable information who have not yet come forward and we urge those people to contact us as soon as they can.”

Police arrested a 20-year-old Newcastle-upon-Lyme man on suspicion of attempted murder before re-arresting him, while he was in custody, on suspicion of murder as detectives continue to question him.
