TEXAS: A Texas man charged with the murder of his girlfriend’s 10-month-old son after he stuffed her in a backpack. He was sentenced to life in prison on Friday, April 29. Trevor Marquis Rowe was charged with capital murder of a victim under the age of 10 and was taken into custody by Lubbock County officers in January 2020.

Rowe was sentenced Friday after pleading guilty to the murder of 10-month-old Marion Jester-Montoya. “It’s my job to forgive and God to judge. She was crying while she was talking to her and we never broke eye contact,” said the boy’s father, Emilio Montoya, Law and Crime reported.

Rowe took Marion to her workplace where he put her in a backpack and placed her on the floor of her vehicle and left her for hours while he went to work. According to investigators, at one point the girl tried to get out of the backpack and Rowe put her back inside it. During lunch, he checked on Marion again and found that she was crying slightly but still breathing. At that time, he went to two stores and a fast food restaurant.

He then put the backpack back in the trunk of the car after returning to the site. Rowe later determined that Marion had stopped breathing. He then performed CPR after calling 911. However, the child died before responding officers arrived. Rowe was arrested in 2018 after being accused of leaving his two children alone.

Reminiscing about the 10-month-old, her father said she was an active child and was “actually learning to walk.” Emilio and the mother had joint custody of the child. Katrina Montoya, the girl’s aunt, said that if her brother had been able to retain sole custody of her daughter, she would still be alive.

Speaking with NBC affiliate KCBD, the girl’s grandmother, Sheilah Montoya, said she was planning Marion’s first birthday party when her tragic death occurred. “She wouldn’t have left,” said the girl’s aunt, Katrina Montoya, who said the 10-month-old would still be alive if her brother retained sole custody of her.Read More…….
