A California man is accused of killing his own father. Defendant Tyler Shipper, 24, called 911 after the victim’s friend arrived for some kind of wellness check, according to Irvine, California police. Authorities did not name the victim, citing the need to notify next of kin.

This situation allegedly made it onto law enforcement’s radar Saturday morning when the slain man failed to show up for work. Consequently, his friend checked it out, but Shipper allegedly wouldn’t let him in. Both the witness and the defendant called 911, according to authorities. Authorities did not detail what Shipper allegedly said in the call from him.

Tyler Shipper accused of killing his own father

“This morning, IPD officers and the Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA) responded to a residence in Windwood after receiving information that an adult male was injured,” police said. “The informant (RP) came to see his friend after the deceased did not show up for work. He was met by Shipper, who looked scruffy and wouldn’t let him in. The PR and Shipper called 9-1-1.”

Police claimed to have found the father dead inside the house. They did not explain the cause of death, but suggested that Shipper used a knife. “Officers entered the residence and located a deceased male,” the officers said. “It appears that Tyler and the deceased are the only residents at the location. Tyler did not appear to be injured and the motive remains under investigation. A knife suspected of having been used in the crime was recovered at the scene.Read more….
