A Florida woman Veronica Cline is accused of poisoning the drink of a man she shares a child with by pouring a can of Raid roach spray on him after a late-night bar. An officer was dispatched to a possible assault and battery at around 4:26 AM. m. on Friday, August 18, and upon arrival at the home in DeLeon Springs, central Florida, the officer made contact with the victim.
The victim told the officer that Veronica Cline’s 29-year-old son told her that he was coming home after drinking at a bar. An arrest affidavit indicated that the female asked the victim to serve her an alcoholic beverage while she went to the residence so they could drink together. Online jail records show that Veronica Cline was being held without bond at the Volusia County Secondary Jail. She was arrested near her house with the help of a police dog. The arrest was captured on police body camera footage.

Charges on Veronica Cline
According to Law and Crime reports, Cline’s previous arrests date back to 2016, including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a misdemeanor failure to appear and an invalid driver’s license. In an affidavit in a case dated May 31, 2021, she and her then-partner were arrested after a drinking fight when a man accused her of pointing a knife at her face.
The case was sent to a county court, but details about how it was resolved were unclear on Saturday. The victim told officers that she felt sick after consuming two drinks. She vomited for half an hour before she was able to contact authorities. “Veronica said [redacted] that she added Raid Roach Spray to her last two drinks,” the affidavit the victim told an officer says. “Verónica said that she wanted to do the same with her son that they share,” she added.
The affidavit says the man provided an audio recording of the suspect allegedly admitting to putting Raid in his drink. The deputy compiled the audios and photos of the raid and the drink, and presented them as evidence. The victim was taken to a medical center but her condition was not revealed.

A witness told investigators that he overheard the victim and the suspect discussing alcohol. He said it was not uncommon for the duo to get into verbal altercations, but said Cline is “typically the primary aggressor,” the document says.
