TEXAS: One day after suspect Mauricio Garcia, 33, opened fire in front of the Allen Premium Outlets shopping center on Saturday, May 6, 2023, the second victim was identified as 27-year-old Aishwarya Thatikonda. The update comes after the identification of the first victim Christian LaCour, a 20-year-old security guard who worked at the mall.

A total of eight people were killed and seven wounded in the mass shooting, CNN reports. The other six victims, ranging in age from 5 to 61, have yet to be identified.

Aishwarya Thatikonda was killed in Allen Premium Outlets shopping center

Aishwarya was “an engineer who was “savvy in AutoCAD, PrimaveraP6, Construction, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Engineering” and was a “strong administrative professional with a focused Master’s degree in Construction Management from Eastern Michigan University,” according to LinkedIn Profile He completed his Masters in 2020 in the US and is a 2018 graduate of Osmania University, Hyderabad, India.

Prior to the news of her death, her father, Narsi Reddy Thatikonda, a district judge in Hyderabad, India, wrote a letter to the Allen County Police Department stating, “I am the father of Mrs. Aishwarya Thatikonda, about 27 years old, who works at Perfect General Contractors. LLC, as a project manager. She has been missing and has not been in contact with us since the shooting that occurred yesterday [May 6] at the Premier Mall.” He added: “I hereby authorize my local representative in the US, Mr. Ashok Kolla, Treasurer of TANA, to contact the authorities for information about my daughter, Mrs. Aishwarya Thatikonda,” reports a local newspaper, Namaste Andhra.

A representative for Thatikondas’s family said: “She was with a friend at the mall when the shooting occurred. Her friend was injured in the shooting and is currently in stable condition in hospital,” reports WFAA. According to the representative, the body will be sent to India.

The shooter, Mauricio Garcia, who lived in Dallas, was armed with an “AR-15-style assault weapon,” President Joe Biden said in a statement. He was also wearing a tactical vest and also had a pistol. He was killed by a police officer after the confrontation. The officer, who was responding to a different incident at the mall, heard the shots, rushed to the scene, and killed the shooter.

Commenting on the mass shooting, a neighbor of the suspect, Moisés Carreón, 52, said living near a murderer was “chilling.” “Just the thought of living a few houses away from someone who can do this can be a little scary and make you more cautious.
