Miami-Dade Police Director Alfredo “Freddy” Ramirez was reportedly seen reaching to her mouth with a gun and threatening his wife to “get over it,” just hours before he shot himself in the head. The Tampa Police Department released body camera footage of the moment Ramirez, 52, and his wife Jody were approached by police in their hotel room on the 12th floor of the JW Marriott hotel.

Ramirez, at the hotel for a sheriff’s conference, got into a fight with Jody after she had been drinking and the pair argued outside the hotel. An employee of a nearby hotel told police that a witness had claimed that “they were here arguing, they came here and he said he was going to ‘finish it now’ and put a gun in her mouth.”

Police approached the couple’s bedroom with a ballistic shield and guns drawn as the wife walked out with her hands up, body camera video shows. Moments later, Ramirez walked out of the room with her hands raised before placing them around his waist, despite officers yelling at her to stop.

“What are you doing?” he asked as the police moved in to handcuff him. “Do you know that I am the Director of the Miami-Dade Police Department? “I didn’t do anything, I don’t understand,” he said before reiterating that he was connected to the neighboring department. While being questioned by police, he told them that he and Jody had been “talking” and that he never drew a gun.

The police took Jody to a separate location for questioning, where she asked the officers, “Is this real?” When she was asked if she was safe or if she had any concerns, Ramírez’s wife said she had none of hers and that she “didn’t remember him drawing [the gun].” She later changed her answer to say that she didn’t remember.

Jody, who has been married to Ramirez for 30 years, said they had a “heated” argument and that she knew “all the buttons to push.” “I know every button to push and I’m pushing them today because I don’t normally drink. He got me in Old Fashion, it’s his fault,” she said. When she was asked about her husband’s mentality, she admitted that he has “a lot of work demons.” “As you all probably know,” she said.

Three hours later, Jody called 911 from I-75, screaming for help as her husband shot himself in the head. “My God, help me, help me, help me, help me!” she told dispatch, recounting that her husband had walked into the road and that she was trying to help him. She said she tried to treat her head wound on a grassy part of the road, but he wouldn’t let her.

Ramírez underwent surgery and is in critical condition. He did not suffer any brain damage, but he may lose his right eye, NBC South Florida reported. The Miami-Dade Police Department confirmed the shooting. Ramírez has been with the department since 1995.Read More…….
