Anndel Taylor, who was caught in the path of a historic winter storm and stranded in her car, has died in Buffalo, New York. The 22-year-old woman died over the weekend as a result of her car getting stuck in the snow on her way home from work on Friday, December 23.

Dozens of Americans have died as a winter storm brought freezing temperatures and crippling snow totals to the US, with many deaths reported in Erie County.

Taylor sent her family a goodbye video of her from inside her car the day before she was discovered dead, so her mother believes she was carbon monoxide poisoning rather than hypothermia.

Taylor informed her family members that she had been stranded in the snow when she was coming home from work and that it was raining heavily in a group chat for the family. In the 16-second clip, Taylor can be seen sliding out the snow-covered window to reveal a wintry scene.

Taylor’s relatives told local Charlotte media that they were unaware of the seriousness of the situation in western New York. “I don’t know if any of us really knew how bad it was, we didn’t watch the news, we didn’t really know what was going on in Buffalo,” Sister Shawnequa Brown said.

Tomeshia Brown, Taylor’s other sister, claimed that while some people had tried to save her and her car, her efforts had been ineffective. “I feel like everyone who tried to get to her got stuck,” Tomeshia said. “Fire department, police, everyone was trapped.” “Why didn’t they have chains on their tires? This is a state known for snow,” Tomeshia said. Taylor’s cause of death has yet to be determined, and local law enforcement has yet to confirm that she was one of the victims of the storm.
