LOUISIANA: Boris Richard Jr, a 21-year-old Louisiana man, was arrested for trespassing into a funeral home after business hours and using FaceTime to share graphic videos of autopsied corpses with a friend. The incident took place on April 7 at Smith Funeral Home in Monroe, Ouachita Parish.

Reportedly residing just ten miles from the funeral home, Richard is said to have gained “unauthorized entry” into the embalming room, where he proceeded to search “several bodies on his cell phone.” The report also stated that he was sharing the disturbing videos with “an acquaintance” via FaceTime. Richard was arrested on April 10 and charged with trespassing at a place of business, according to the Daily Mail.

Why did Boris Richard Jr is arrested?

According to a probable cause affidavit filed by the Monroe Police Department, the 21-year-old allegedly trespassed into the funeral home after hours on April 7, sometime between 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. m. and 12:00 p.m. m. The report added that the suspect “entered the embalming room with several bodies present after the autopsy. The victim said Richard videotaped several bodies on his cell phone via FaceTime and was showing the bodies to an acquaintance while the business was closed to the public.Richard was not an official funeral home worker and was told not to enter the embalming room without consent.

After being detained, Richard reportedly refused to answer questions and was subsequently restrained and taken to the Ouachita Correctional Facility. He was later released the next day after posting $1,500 bail. Although he was initially scheduled to appear in court on April 12, the hearing was postponed until May 18.

This comes after Colorado funeral home owners Megan Hess and her mother Shirley Koch were sentenced to prison for selling hundreds of bodies to medical researchers and misleading grieving families with fake ashes. Hess, 48, reportedly extracted and sold the gold teeth of some dead people, making $40,000 in the process.

They transferred body parts to third parties for investigation without the families’ consent, charging them $1,000 for fake cremations. Hess pleaded guilty to mail fraud and received a 20-year prison sentence, while Koch was sentenced to 15 years.
