BRISBANE: After allegations that a teacher had harassed a teenager and performed an “indecent act,” the school sent a letter to concerned parents. Chelsea Jane Edwards 28, of Paradise Point, south-east Brisbane, was charged on March 10 while working at Indooroopilly State School with two counts of grooming and one count of indecent assault on a child under 16.

The teacher allegedly met the teen through an Indooroophilly education center and began grooming him in July 2022, when she socialized outside of the classroom. Responding to the “serious allegations”, chief executive Michael Hornby wrote a letter on Tuesday.

In the letter, Mr. Hornby informed the school community that they would be there to help them during the fighting. He wrote: “First of all, I want to assure you that we treat the safety and well-being of our children, our students, as our highest priority at all times,” as reported by DailyMail.

The letter further states: “While I appreciate your desire to understand the details of this matter, I am sure you will understand that I am unable to go into detail for legal reasons. In that regard, I ask that you consider refraining from providing any comment on the matter.” on social networks or other forums. The letter, finally, mentions: “Support services are available to anyone who may need assistance. Thank you for your continued support of our school,” according to the reports.

In response to a complaint, the teacher’s activities were reported to the state Child Protection and Investigation Unit in February. On May 2, she will make another appearance at Southport Magistrates Court. As far as is known, the instructor has been absent since the allegations were announced on March 10. Indooroopilly State School, with about 2,500 students, is one of Queensland’s leading public institutions. The Department of Education said it was aware the lady had been charged, saying the allegations were “serious and disturbing to all involved,” according to reports.
