The estranged partner of Tatiana Dokhotaru has been charged with her murder three months after her body was found in a drive in southwest Sydney. Danny Zayat, 28, was arrested by NSW Police in a morning raid on a property in Colyton in connection with her death. He has since been accused of murder.

Danny Zayat charged with murder of Tatiana Dokhotaru

The body of Dokhotaru, 34, was found in a unit on Norfolk Street, Liverpool, around 8pm on May 27. Police had earlier gone to the building following a distress report, but were unable to find the unit. Detectives from the State Crime Command Homicide Squad and Liverpool City Police Area Command established Strike Force Median to investigate the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death.

Police recently said they were looking for a phone that CCTV showed being thrown out of the window of Dokhotaru’s unit.
Detectives flew to Canada last week as part of their investigation into her death, where they met with Dokhotaru’s family. Zayat has been denied bail and will appear before Penrith local court today.

A separate critical incident investigation is continuing into all other circumstances surrounding the incident. This is being carried out by the City of Fairfield Police Area Command and will be subject to independent review. Read More……
