A Rockford man has been charged with two counts of first degree murder after his father was found dead last week. Devon Pitts, 26, has been charged with the death of Roger Pitts, 64.

The Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were called to the 300 block of Vincent Avenue Friday afternoon around 4 p.m. When officers arrived on the scene, they found Roger Pitts dead in the living room.

An autopsy revealed that Pitts died from blunt force trauma to the head. On Monday, the state’s attorney’s office charged Pitts’ son, Devon, with his murder.
