A husband of 40 years faces capital murder charges in Arkansas after his wife, a doctor who called 911 in mid-April, was found in the street outside their home with a knife to her neck. Marcus McBurney Joiner was allegedly heard saying “You wanted it that way” in the background after 39-year-old Dr. Amy Joiner called 911 on April 16, a Sunday night, to report that her husband was drinking and acting aggressively. Jail records reviewed by Law & Crime show that Marcus Joiner was initially booked on April 20 in the case. The defendant, who is 6’4″ and weighs 223 pounds, is scheduled to appear in court next May 22 for an arraignment in the capital murder case, according to Washington County Circuit Court records. Court records indicate that the capital murder case and felony information was filed on Tuesday, May 16.
