Tulsa Police Department officers responded to an apartment complex at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, April 27, according to a press release. Arriving officers found mother Dana Jones unconscious. Security guards had her son, Drayk Jones, in custody, police said. The woman was taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 3:30 p.m., according to the statement. Her son was arrested. Drayk Jones was booked into the Tulsa County Jail on a first-degree murder charge, records show. He is being held on $800,000 bail.

Drayk Jones killed his mother

“Detectives are still working out the finer details of the case and we will post an update as it becomes available,” police said. Tulsa police are investigating after a strangulation in South Tulsa at the South Glen Apartments, located around East 56th Street and South Peoria Ave. The police had received a call from a man who claimed that he had strangled her mother and that she was dead.

The man was Drayk Jones, who was booked into the Tulsa County Jail tonight after being questioned by police. An individual was basically fighting with his mother, a woman I believe, was in her 50s and when we arrived she was in very, very bad shape,” Meulenberg said. The woman was taken to the hospital where she was pronounced dead, according to investigators.

Meulenberg said this was not the first time they had visited this house. “We’ve had some history here at the house, but it’s not unusual to have, you know, domestic violence calls and then it escalates to the point where, unfortunately, a person just does a series of horrible actions and takes life.” from someone else,” she said.  Jones was booked into the Tulsa County Jail and faces a first-degree murder charge.
