A man is in custody after a mother of four was stabbed to death at a house in western Sydney. Assistant Commissioner Leanne McCusker said police received a phone call from Shaun King at a home in St Marys around 8:40 p.m. yesterday out of concerns for his own well-being, but he did not attend the house. A woman at the residence again called police around 6:45 a.m. and arrived to find King’s partner, Drew Douglas, with stab wounds to the chest.

Paramedics tried to save Douglas, but she died at the scene. Police arrested King at the Campbelltown Police Station around 7:30 am today. The 35-year-old man is helping police with their investigation of him. No charges have yet been filed.
Homicide detectives and Nepean Police are now investigating Douglas’s death. “There is a history of police involvement with these two people,” McCusker said.

McCusker confirmed that there is also a history of domestic violence. She said there were no aggravated violence orders in place regarding the couple. A critical incidents team from Ryde Police Area Command will investigate the incident and the police response as a whole, police confirmed.

The investigation continues. Neighbors were left “unsettled” by the death on their suburban street.

“I’ve been here all my life, never had a murder here,” said a neighbor. “Not what you really want to hear.” The Law Enforcement Conduct Commission, which investigates allegations of police misconduct, has been notified and will independently oversee the investigation by the NSW Police Professional Standards Command.Read More…..
