A 16-year-old boy was arrested early Sunday morning and charged with the fatal shooting of a man in February at a local apartment complex, according to a release from the Gainesville Police Department. GPD obtained an arrest warrant on Feb. 23 for Elijah Moore in connection with the Feb. 16 shooting at the Phoenix, 3120 SW 26th Terrace.

An officer spotted Moore at about 12:32 a.m. while on patrol in the 900 block of East University Avenue, the department reported.

Elijah Moore Accused of killing a man

Several officers responded to the area, worked their way through a crowd and made contact with Moore. The release says that when officers ordered Moore to the ground, a Glock 26 handgun fell out of his pocket.

Police later determined that the gun was stolen in 2020 in Lake City.

In addition to the murder charge, Moore faces charges of grand theft of a firearm and carrying a concealed weapon. Moore is being held at the Alachua County Jail on no bond and is scheduled to be arraigned on March 30 at 9 a.m.Read More…..
