SPAIN: A 24-year-old footballer has been fatally stabbed in Spain in what police describe as a random attack. Chipiona CF player Francisco Naval Perez died in hospital on Sunday 2 April after being stabbed in the chest by a 20-year-old assailant in Cadiz.

According to The Sun, the killer is now in police custody and it is claimed that he stabbed Pérez without saying anything. According to the Spanish Civil Guard, there was no motive behind the attack and no known links between the two men.

Pérez, also known as Paco Naval, was transferred to the hospital in Sanlúcar and Jerez de la Frontera after the incident. However, he had to be transferred to the Puerta del Mar hospital in Cádiz due to the seriousness of his injuries. Tragically, he breathed his last at around 2:30 a.m. Sunday.
