A man has been charged with attempted murder after allegedly breaking into his ex-partner’s home and threatening her with a machete. Fraser Thomson, 41, was arrested on Tuesday morning in Kellyville, north-west Sydney, and charged tonight with a range of offences, including trespassing and assault with intent to murder. Police say he broke into the home of his ex-partner Lauren Salamakis, 35, armed with a machete and carrying a bag full of weapons, including hydrochloric acid and rope restraints.

However, Ms. Salamakis’ ex-husband, Paul Salamakis, 39, stayed with her for her safety and was able to knock Thomson down, hug him and hold him until officers arrived. Both men were taken to hospital to receive treatment for cuts to their arms, which police say all came from the same knife. Thomson was under police surveillance at the hospital.

Charges on Fraser Thomson

After being released, the 41-year-old man was charged with trespassing and assault with intent to murder, trespassing and inflicting GBH, specially aggravated trespassing and committing an indictable felony: wounding and violating the prohibition . /constraint in AVO.

He was denied bail and will appear in court on Wednesday. Police said Ms Salamakis was “shocked but uninjured”.
Earlier, Superintendent Darren Batchelor said there had been an AVO between “some of the parties” involved in the incident. The investigation continues.
