In court documents, Regina wrote: “My future (ex) husband threatened to shoot me and verbally abuses me every day. He also threatened to shoot my dog. “He also has between 50 and 60 weapons in his room. I am afraid that he will get drunk and shoot me.

Another unnamed adult, who was found inside the house that had been burned down at some point during the shooting, was also injured and taken to a local hospital. The surviving adult, who has not been identified, suffered multiple gunshot wounds, according to local reports.

The names and ages of the three children have not been released. Sheriff Burnett confirmed that two of the children found dead were Regina’s grandchildren. “It’s a domestic situation, obviously, that has been going on for quite some time,” Sheriff Burnett told WTVC NewsChannel 9.

Deputies initially responded to the residence Thursday night for a possible shooting, but found the home completely engulfed in flames when they arrived on scene. A judge had approved a “no contact order” against Barnett to stay away from his wife, which was still in effect at the time of the shooting.
