One person was killed and two others are in critical condition Monday after an apparent mass stampede at the Rochester Main Street Armory concert venue in upstate New York, police said. “Just now hearing what happened, I pray everyone is safe,” Gloria Hallelujah Woods, known as Grammy-nominated rapper GloRilla, posted on Twitter. Once inside, officers found several people injured, including a 33-year-old woman who “has been pronounced deceased.” Responding officers assisted medical personnel in providing care, and two people who were taken to a local hospital are “currently listed as critical, life-threatening,” according to a police statement to the media.

The statement added that six more people were taken by private vehicles to local hospitals with “non-life-threatening injuries related to this very event.” “Following further investigation, it was determined that none of the injuries sustained by any of the victims were consistent with a person being shot,” the statement also said. “At this time there is no evidence to support that a shooting occurred within the event.

“The injuries appear to be the result of a large crowd pushing towards the exits following accounts of people hearing what they believed to be gunshots,” the statement concluded.
