James M. Kelly accused of killing a couple

Earlier this week, the suspect appeared on video from jail for a hearing in Grant County Superior Court. He is charged with two counts of murder and multiple counts of assault. The suspect allegedly began firing into the encampment, several hundred yards from the concert, last Saturday shortly before 8:30 p.m., authorities said. Hit and killed were Brandy Escamilla and Josilyn Ruiz, an engaged couple from Seattle who planned to attend the concert.

“The shooter continued to fire randomly into the crowd,” Kyle Foreman of the Grant County Sheriff’s Office said in a video news conference posted on Facebook just hours after the June 17 shooting. The suspect then allegedly struck another man, Andrew J. Caudra, 31, of Eugene, Oregon, in the shoulder, prompting the suspect’s girlfriend, 20-year-old Lily A. Luksich, to call 911, saying her boyfriend had a gun, The Seattle Times reported.

The suspect allegedly continued to fire into the crowd, with his girlfriend at his side. Lori Williams, 61, was working in crowd management and responded to the report of gunshots, police say. The suspect allegedly pointed the gun at Williams, shooting him “multiple times,” Capt. Brian Chance of the Wenatchee Police Department said in a news release. One bullet passed through her windshield, striking the right side of her face, breaking her glasses and causing bruises and lacerations. Williams was treated and released at the scene, Chance said. When officers tracked the suspect and her girlfriend to a farm field near the camp, the suspect had allegedly pointed the gun at Luksich, striking her lower body twice, police said.

In the field, Moses Lake Police Department Detective Edgar Salazar, 35, a former member of the Marine Corps, shot the suspect once, wounding him. Officers invaded the area, separating the suspect from Luksich, who was taken to the hospital, treated for her injuries, and released. After the suspect was treated for his injuries, he was released and booked into the Grant County Jail, where he is being held without bond.Read More……….
