An Atlanta mother has been arrested after she shot and wounded her 17-year-old son during an argument over a video game console. Jaquana Butler, 34, was at her southwest city home Thursday night when she and the teen began an argument. She pulled out a gun, police said, and shot her son multiple times. Officers were called to the house on Sparks Street, near the house made famous in Tyler Perry’s Madea film series, around 10:20 p.m.

The teen was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital. His condition is not known. Butler was arrested and has been charged with aggravated assault, reckless conduct and cruelty to children. She is well known to the police, with a record dating back to 2010.

Butler has been accused for years of reckless conduct; abandonment of a child; falsification; aggravated assault with a deadly weapon; aggravated battery; armed robbery; false report of a crime; and possession of weapons. In 2012 she was accused of child abuse.

In 2019, she was convicted as a first offender of four counts of child cruelty in the second degree, child cruelty by causing excessive physical or mental pain, and violent family violence in a 2016 incident, according to court records. She was sentenced to six years probation. In April of this year, she was charged with simple assault.Read More……
