MINNESOTA: A Minnesota officer Josh Owen tragically lost his life while responding to a domestic incident at a home in Cyrus on Saturday, April 15, 2023. The Pope County Sheriff’s Office and members of the Glenwood and Starbuck Police Departments responded to the the call just before 7:30 right on that day. After they arrived, authorities attempted to detain a person involved in the incident, which resulted in an exchange of fire between a man inside the home and the officers.

According to a post from Owens’ father, Saturday was Owen’s 44th birthday. “I’m numb right now. Josh came into this world on April 15, 1979, and on this day he was taken from us. He Rest easy my son,” he wrote.

Josh Owen tragically lost his life

“Unfortunately, in the shooting of three Minnesota officers from the Pope County Sheriff’s Office and the Starbuck Police Department tonight, Deputy Josh Owen passed away in response to a gunshot wound sustained during his response to an incident. of domestic violence,” published West Hennepin Public Safety.

Two Pope County Sheriff’s Office deputies were shot along with a Starbuck Police Department officer. The Starbucks officer was not hospitalized and one of the Pope County Sheriff’s deputies was treated for injuries and released. Officer Josh Owen, the other officer shot, was transported to an area hospital in critical condition and later died of his injuries, police said. “The subject, a male, was also struck and killed during the exchange of fire,” the Pope County Sheriff’s Office said, according to Bringmethenews.

“Yesterday, April 15, Pope County Police lost a brother,” the sheriff’s office said in a Facebook post. “Our condolences and love go out to the family of Deputy Josh Owen and the families of the other deputies and officers involved,” they added.

Police said the investigation is still ongoing and there is no threat to the public. Owen had been a member of the Pope County Sheriff’s Office for about 12 years. He was also recently one of three deputies honored by the Pope County Sheriff’s Office for his rescue efforts during a house fire in November 2022.Read More……..
