Following the investigation, a grand jury indicted Sills, 25, on felony rape and felony kidnapping this week. He is expected to return to court on February 16.

It is unclear why the charges were filed three years after the crime was first reported to Ohio authorities. Spokesmen for Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost declined to comment on the matter when contacted by DailyMail.com. “We have no comment beyond the indictment and cannot discuss the criminal investigation or the grand jury process at this stage of the proceedings,” a Yost spokesperson told DailyMail.com on Thursday.

Sills’ attorney, Michael Connick, said the allegations are false and his client will plead not guilty. The Oklahoma State product was recently placed on the Commissioner’s exempt list, effectively suspending him for the Eagles’ upcoming Super Bowl LVII matchup with the Kansas City Chiefs on February 12.

As detailed in a police report obtained by ESPN, an officer was called to the emergency room at Southeast Ohio Regional Medical Center in Cambridge, Ohio on December 5, 2019. It was there that the officer took a report from the alleged victim, who explained that she previously knew Sills from having attended high school together. According to the woman, Sills dropped her and her cousin off at her cousin’s house, where she was staying at the time. But as her cousin was allowed to get out of the car and into her home, Sills grabbed the alleged victim and “put her back in the truck.”

The woman says Sills grabbed her by the ponytail and tried to kiss her as she told him to stop. But with her cousin inside the house, Sills allegedly tried to remove the woman’s pants. “[Sills] kept touching me down there,” the woman told police, adding that he forced her to have oral sex with him. The two have known each other for eight years, she said. Officers took photos of the injuries to the woman’s face and neck.
