A Florida woman wielding a knife stabbed three hospital employees to death as she removed her 3-day-old baby from a ventilator Thursday night, authorities said. Kendra Greene was arrested on suspicion of two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, one count of simple battery, one count of aggravated child abuse and one count of resisting arrest without violence, Fox Orlando reported.

She had recently delivered a newborn from the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) at Palms West Hospital when she returned Thursday to take the child to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office. When she tried to leave with the child after removing him from a ventilator, she pulled out a knife when hospital staff tried to stop her, authorities said.

Three employees were injured. They were treated for non-life-threatening injuries and released from the hospital. “Fortunately, Kendra left the baby with a family member of hers, so the Palm Beach County Fire Department transported him safely to the hospital and he is currently in stable condition,” the sheriff’s office said. A hospital employee told authorities that she saw Greene “violently remove the breathing device from the baby’s mouth” along with a feeding tube and other life support devices that were supporting the child’s life.

Greene reportedly tried to hide the boy under her shirt. Before the stabbings, a “code pink” announcement was made over the loudspeaker indicating the kidnapping of a child, the news outlet reported. Workers are to prevent anyone from leaving the area during a code pink, one of the victims told officers.

One victim was stabbed in the neck, another in the hand, and the third in the right forearm. Authorities found Greene at her home before she allegedly fled in a vehicle. She crashed and was arrested after fleeing into a canal, according to the report.Read More……
