Tennessee state and local authorities issued an endangered child alert Tuesday for a missing woman and her 4-year-old son after the father discovered his oldest son had died, and now police say she is the responsible for the murder. Patricia Sylvester, 32, was booked into the Bedford County Jail on one count of criminal manslaughter and attempted criminal manslaughter, according to WATE.

The father of the victim Esteban Sylvester arrived at his home on Barksdale Lane Monday night and found him unconscious, according to Shelbyville police. Officials had initially given Esteban’s age as 12, but some local media reported that he is 11 years old. However, there was apparently no sign of Patricia or her 4-year-old son.

“Nearby residents came to the father’s aid and called 911. Investigators desperately need to speak with the child’s mother and 4-year-old brother,” police said at the time. Shelbyville officers and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation spread the word. Authorities later announced that Sylvester and the youngest son were found safe.

Shelbyville Assistant Principal Brian Crews said at a news conference Tuesday that Patricia Sylvester killed her older brother and also tried to harm her younger brother, according to WGNS Radio. “We are lucky that she is still with us today,” Crews said.
