Patrick Xavier Clark, the man who allegedly killed rapper Takeoff, has asked a judge for money because he can’t afford to hire a private investigator, but needs one to build his case. Clark is reportedly asking for an initial $5,000 to hire a private investigator, according to legal documents, as he claims he cannot bear the cost on his own.

Clark’s family has already spent a large amount of money on his lawyer to take their case at a reduced rate. He says it’s essential to include a private investigator in his defense to “properly investigate [Clark’s] case and effectively prepare for trial.” The alleged criminal says that he has already found an IP that will work for him at a reduced rate of $85/hour.

Clark has been arrested and charged with the rapper’s murder, Houston police announced last week. He is currently being held on $2 million bail. The documents state that if he is released, he will be placed under house arrest. In addition, he will be prohibited from carrying firearms or any deadly weapon and must refrain from consuming narcotics or any controlled substance without a medical prescription. Clark is also not allowed to speak to specific people like Takeoff’s family, J Prince Jr, and boxing star Shakur Stevenson, who was standing inches from Takeoff moments before the fatal shooting.

The 28-year-old rapper, whose real name was Kirshnik Khari Ball, was shot and killed on Tuesday, November 1, 2022, after an altercation at a private party at 2:34 a.m. in Houston. Police arrived at a party held at 810 Billiards & Bowling Houston and found a man dead at the location who was later identified as the rapper. Takeoff’s death has been ruled a homicide. He died of “penetrating gunshot wounds to the head and torso to the arm,” according to records posted to Page Six by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

The late rapper and his uncle, Migos collaborator Quavo, were playing craps at the party when an argument broke out, eventually leading to someone pulling the trigger. A man and a woman were also injured in the horrific incident and were admitted to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
