Saul Cookson died after hitting the front of a moving ambulance on his Sur-Ron electric bike just after 2 p.m. m. in Salford yesterday, a month after two teenagers died after being followed by a police van in Cardiff while traveling in the same make.

Saul’s cousin, Jack Pennington, wrote: “Everyone who knew Saul knew he was the kindest boy, he had a good heart, he was polite and he had you like there was no tomorrow.

‘I can’t believe he’s writing this, there’s no other word to describe it other than shock. Don’t feel real one of the nicest guys you could ever meet and I feel lucky to have called you my cousin. ‘I had some good times growing up…I can’t believe that’s it. It shows the cruel world we live in. I will miss you forever brother. I can’t say goodbye, just see you later, my partner, I love you RIP Saul, my brother.

A relative of the boy, who came to the scene to lay flowers, said the family was “a mess” after the news. Family friend Jacob Bailey, 19, said: “I’ve known Saul since he was born. He was just one of those proper good boys. No one had a bad word to say about Saul. I just don’t think so. He had so much to live for and the blink of an eye is it… 15 isn’t age is it?

A GoFundMe page was set up in an attempt to raise £2,000 for his funeral, which had raised more than £1,100 on Friday morning.

The North West Ambulance Service said: ‘We can confirm that an ambulance was involved in a collision with a young man, who was riding an electric bicycle, on Langworthy Road in Salford at around two in the afternoon. The patient received immediate medical treatment by the ambulance personnel and was transported to the hospital, where he sadly later died. We are fully participating in the police investigation.
