Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department are investigating after a man was shot and killed Tuesday afternoon in southeast Charlotte. The crime scene was along Lucy Jane Lane on Sardis Road North near Monroe Road.

Police said 28-year-old Illya Armstead was the victim and a person of interest was taken into custody that day. The suspect, 19-year-old Shaniyah, was taken into custody. She was charged with murder and taken to the Mecklenburg County Jail, CMPD said.

While officers are not currently looking for more suspects in this case, the investigation is still active and ongoing, detectives said. No further information has been released.Read More……
