The Metropolitan Police said it believes his suspected killer fled to Kenya after the murder, but continues to call on people to come forward, saying: “Taofeek’s family deserves justice.”

Five years after Taofeek Lamidi was stabbed to death on a London street on New Year’s Eve, police continue to hunt his alleged killer.

The 20-year-old suffered “horrendous injuries” in the attack on December 31, 2017, when he was found lying on Memorial Avenue in West Ham, east London, shortly after 7:30 p.m. m.

He had been repeatedly stabbed and, despite the best efforts of the emergency services, he was pronounced dead at the scene less than an hour later.

The Metropolitan Police said it believes his suspected killer, Ahmed Mohamed, 25, fled to Kenya after the murder.

Officers have asked anyone with information on the suspect’s whereabouts to get in touch.

Detective Chief Inspector Wayne Jolley said: “It has been almost five years since this horrific incident that took a young man from his family, and our investigation is largely ongoing.

“Taofeek’s family deserves justice and we will not rest until those responsible are found and brought to justice.

“If anyone has information on the whereabouts of Ahmed Mohamed, I urge you to do the right thing, contact us.”

He added: “Violent incidents like this have no place on the streets of London, and we are following a number of lines of inquiry to track down Mohamed.

“Memorial Avenue is a busy residential area close to West Ham station. I know there were people in the area who witnessed the incident and I need them to come forward.”
