CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. — A Clayton County man Theodore Brown Jr  was convicted of selling a teenage girl for sex in 2018, the fourth and final defendant in a human trafficking case in which the Human Trafficking Prosecution Unit of the California Attorney General’s Office Georgia won convictions against all four traffickers. Three others have been previously convicted in the case, which involved a 15-year-old victim sold for sex in Clayton County in 2018.

The Attorney General’s Office announced Tuesday the guilty verdict of 31-year-old Theodore Brown, Jr. He was found guilty of arranging with another defendant to sell a 15-year-old girl for sexual purposes at Clayton County hotels in 2018.

Theodore Brow Jr accused of selling teen girl

The other defendant convicted in the sale settlement, Christopher Weldon, was sentenced last year to 15 years in prison. Brown’s sentencing is set for March 29. Two buyers, Daniel Horne and Gregory Benoit, have also been convicted and sentenced to prison terms of several years.

“Theodore Browne, Jr. sold a girl for sex and now faces the consequences of his illegal actions,” Georgia Attorney General Chris Carr said in a statement. According to a statement from the Attorney General’s Office, the newly formed Human Trafficking Prosecution Unit reopened the case in 2019 after it was closed by local authorities.

“This result follows years of work by our Human Trafficking Prosecution Unit as we continue to analyze all leads in our search for justice for this victim,” Carr said. Carr’s office says the Human Trafficking Prosecutor’s unit currently has 52 defendants for sex or labor trafficking, and won six new convictions in 2022.
