Two men aged 19 and 20 are dead in shooting

Sergeant Lori Franklin of the Yuma Police Department said Sunday: ‘On Saturday, May 13, 2023, at approximately 10:54 p.m. m., the Yuma Police Department responded to a report of gunshots in the 3800 block of S. J Edward Drive. ‘Upon arrival, officers located several subjects with gunshot wounds. A 19-year-old man was transported prior to police arrival and pronounced dead a short time later at Yuma Regional Medical Center.

A second victim, a 20-year-old man, was transported by the Yuma Fire Department to Yuma Regional Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead. ‘A third victim, a 16-year-old male, was transported to Yuma Regional Medical Center and then airlifted to Phoenix with life-threatening injuries. The result was that Customs and Border Protection (CBP) had held up to 28,000 migrants at its facilities, well beyond its capacity, according to a local official.

On Thursday, the Yuma mayor announced that CBP was planning to release into the city migrants who had not undergone full processing, though he insisted they had been “vetted.” On Friday afternoon, three white buses with tinted windows pulled up to the Yuma Public Safety Training Center near the city’s airport.

The location was a well-kept secret, but was on hand to witness the launch. A briefing document said that 141 were being released. Streams of people could be seen exiting the buses and being directed to a shaded waiting area, where there was at least some shelter from the 96F temperatures. From there, it is understood that they will be put on buses to take them to Phoenix.Read More……
