Tyler Olivier is charged in connection with a shooting at a Woburn home that left a Massachusetts man dead. The Middlesex District Attorney’s Office announced Monday night that 26-year-old Tyler Olivier of Woburn has been arrested and charged with possession of a firearm and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
Woburn police were called to a Washington Street home at around 3:40 a.m. Monday over a report of riots. The ranch-style home near the intersection of Carlena Terrace was cordoned off with yellow police tape.
“We have an unresponsive party in the basement, possible gunshot wound, we’re starting CPR on him,” an officer on the scene radioed. “We have another party, possible gunshot wound. He’s outside.” “I thought it was one of the traffic lights flashing red, and then I found out the patrol cars started showing up,” said neighbor William Govostes.

Tyler Olivier charged with murder
Responding officers found two men suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. One of those men, later identified as 22-year-old Mussie Nirayo of Cambridge, was pronounced dead at the scene. The other man, identified as Olivier, was taken to an area hospital. Woburn police initially said it appeared Nirayo and Olivier knew each other and the shooting was not a random act of violence, but the district attorney’s office said the reason for the incident and whether the two men knew each other remains under investigation. .
Olivier is expected to arraign on Tuesday at Woburn District Court. According to the prosecutor’s office, Olivier was arrested in connection with the August 2021 stabbing of a man and a pregnant woman he knew. Investigators said he was released on bail in that case on the condition of GPS monitoring.
