A respected Republican legal activist was stabbed to death in the neck inside his New Hampshire home this weekend, according to the New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office. Attorney Alexander Talcott, 41, was found dead inside his Durham home early Saturday morning, the state’s attorney general said, according to NBC 10 Boston.

The death has been ruled a homicide. The attorney general identified Talcott as the deceased on Sunday and said his death was under investigation. All parties involved in the incident have been identified. Investigators are trying to determine if the person who stabbed Talcott acted in self-defense, the attorney general’s office said. No arrests were announced Sunday.

Talcott was remembered as “a staunch supporter of the core values of the Republican Party” who had an “unwavering belief in liberty, free markets, and limited government,” the state director of the New Hampshire chapter of the National Republican Association of Lawyers (RNLA). he told NBC 10 Boston.

“Alex was an exceptionally skilled advocate for the rule of law and the importance of fair and honest elections. We will always honor Alex’s selfless dedication and profound contributions to our shared vision of freedom through legal process,” William O’Brien also said.

“His legacy will undoubtedly inspire future generations within the RNLA and the legal community at large.” Talcott was named the organization’s leader in New Hampshire in 2021, WMUR previously reported.


His friend Chris Ager told WMUR that Talcott always wanted to lend a hand. “He always wanted to do more and was a great help. He wanted to help,” Ager said. “He came to me many times and was like, ‘Hi Chris, how can I help?’ Without asking me for anything in return. He was that kind of person.
