Charges on Amelia Giordano

In October 2022, 11-year-old Pine spoke with his family about his suicide plan and detailed his intention to end his life in a school bathroom. His mother took him to the emergency room at Cheyenne Regional Medical Center, which led to his hospital treatment and a week away from school.

In her parents’ persistent efforts to ensure adequate attendance, Pine’s family, along with the school, devised a strategy to prevent unsupervised trips to the bathroom. However, Pine committed suicide in a Carpenter Elementary bathroom on January 9, just a month shy of his 12th birthday.

Chandel, his mother, believes that the school let him down by not following the established procedure. The family obtained video footage showing Giordano and another teacher looking into the boys’ bathroom multiple times over a 17-minute span without taking action. It was only when the school principal walked in that the situation changed, as he was the one who discovered Pine. The director administered CPR until he was airlifted to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
